Whose Money Is It, Really?
Understanding MLA ₹1 Crore Fund
Imagine this. In every corner of our nation — small towns, villages, cities — people like us live with dreams and struggles. But why do we still see broken roads, dark streets, and poor school or hospital facilities?
Here’s what most people don’t know: Every MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly) gets about ₹1 crore every year from the government — not for their pocket, but for your area’s development.
This is called the MLA Local Area Development Fund (MLALAD).
It’s like the government giving a ₹1 crore toolbox and saying:
“Use this to fix the area — roads, drains, water, electricity, schools, hospitals — and improve people’s lives.”
But the real tragedy is — people don’t even know this fund exists.
Many politicians misuse or quietly ignore this fund. They forget:
This is not their money. It’s YOUR money.
What Can You Do?
- Wake up. Tell your family and neighbors: “Our MLA gets ₹1 crore every year. Where is it being spent?”
- Ask Questions. Attend Gram Sabha meetings. Ask your ward members. Use RTI.
- Create Pressure. The more people ask, the more accountability you create.
Use RTI (Right to Information)
You can file RTI applications to know where the funds are used. Use the following resources:
- RTI Online Portal (Government of India)
- How to File RTI (Youth Ki Awaaz Guide)
- Online RTI Filing (Private Help Service)
Final Words
Let’s remind every citizen:
Don’t beg leaders. Remind them — they work for us.
Because the true power isn’t in the MLA’s hand… it’s in yours.
